Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment (EFIE)

Eureka Forbes firmly believes that unpolluted water and the air is the birthright of every Indian. The institute promotes awareness about the conservation and management of natural water and air resources.

Pollution Watch

In a first-of-its-kind initiative running from 2000 till date, EFIE has been monitoring air and water pollution levels across 3 harmful pollutants - Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) and Nitrogen Oxides (NO) - in 12 key cities of India telecasting them daily on a prominent national television channel - NDTV.

Euro Enviro Quiz

India’s only quiz for school children exclusively on the environment, in association with over 450 schools across India.

Euro Ambassadors

A programme that enthused school children to become ambassadors of the environment and enkindle the environmental spark in their homes and neighbourhoods.

Project ‘Jal Amrut’

Assisted villagers in drought-prone areas to augment their water resources through rainwater harvesting - a first in rural Maharashtra.

The Euro School of Environment

Set up to formalize and encourage the education movement, this initiative began with a course on becoming eco-friendly citizens and has since enhanced its curriculum.

World Environment Day

Seized the opportunity to highlight the cause of the environment through activities including tie-ups with National Geographic and Discovery channels.

World Water Day

Spreads awareness about waterborne diseases.

Water Wonderful World

Launched a website on World Water Day - www.waterwonderfulworld.com - to spread awareness about water conservation and educate consumers on making the right choice of water purification system by providing information on source water quality and the appropriate purification technology to be used for it across India.

Water-testing Kits

Provided kits to UNICEF to test water quality samples in India.

Recognises groundbreaking research in molecular biology and eradication of water-borne diseases.

Aquachek Water Labs

Conducts free water tests in 14 cities across India, particularly aiding housing societies in checking the quality of water in their tanks. It is available across India in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhimtal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Meghalaya, and Mumbai.

Aqua Ambassador

To address the rising water crisis and the shortage of clean water around the world, the Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment partnered with the Rotary Club of Bombay, which has been spearheading the Rotary movement in India since 1929. The Aqua Ambassador program educated and activated the children of our country, encouraging them to become ‘Aqua Ambassadors’ in their homes and community. Each Aqua Ambassador must bring about water conservation in their own homes and at least 5 neighbouring homes. With regular ‘water audits’, children would identify problems and offer solutions to minimize water wastage and bring about awareness about water conservation in the neighbourhood. Reports of the audit were regularly submitted by the ambassadors to their school teachers to measure the impact of the program.

Jagrut Mumbaikar

A programme, in association with the Mumbai Police and Fire Brigade that is focused on showing citizens and cooperative societies how to safeguard their living environment.

World Environment Day Award

Eureka Forbes is one of the first companies to receive the prestigious award for Rainwater Harvesting instituted by Ecotel Hotels.

Aquaguard Water Kiosks

Made drinking water accessible in public places in Mumbai like Chowpatty, Nariman Point, Priyadarshini Park, Jogger’s Park, and MTDC Information Kiosk at Marine Drive. Additionally, kiosks were installed during Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Puja at Lalbaug and GSB mandals, during India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan in Delhi and NICCO Park in Kolkata.

Hydrating the Mahakumbh

Between January and February 2013, Eureka Forbes was privileged enough to distribute safe drinking water to devotees at the world’s largest congregation of religious pilgrims - the Mahakumbh Mela in Allahabad - in association with the Uttar Pradesh Police, through 32 water kiosks covering the entire area.

Water Pollution Report

In association with NDTV in 2006, EFL prepared a report based on samples of groundwater (taken from borewells) in 14 locations - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Indore, Jaipur, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Goa and Cochin. This broke new ground and was a first-of-its-kind effort to educate people about the need for safe and healthy water. The ‘Water Index’ report emphasises two factors: harmful bacteria and saltiness.

Pure water in public places

Providing safe drinking water by installing Aquaguard in police stations (45 stations), places of worship, select schools (based on requests and evaluation), public parks, orphanages, charitable trusts etc.

Backing initiatives

Have supported water-related events as well as sponsored and initiated grants and scholarships for environmental research. Organises painting competitions, training sessions and environmental forums in schools and colleges. Holds pollution-control camps and initiatives with medical associations for the prevention and cure of respiratory diseases.

Jaldaan

A movement driven by the people, for the people and of the people, 'Jal Daan' was launched by Eureka Forbes, a Shapoorji Pallonji Group company, to treat poor water quality and contribute healthy, safe drinking water to support the local community. It is just a small act of donating 5 litres of safe drinking water to the needy which has already garnered over 3.2 million pledges, touching the lives of over 1.6 lakh people.

Tandarust Bharat

A campaign launched by Eureka Forbes which was a national social initiative encompassing partnership, action and innovation towards a larger vision of creating a healthier India. An initiative inspired by the Government of India’s marquee national programmes - ‘Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Healthy India’ instituted for the welfare of all Indians. Under the aegis of Tandarust Bharat, each brand of Eureka Forbes addressed different dimensions of health with unique, individual initiatives, while sharing a single, larger vision of a healthier India unanimously - Aquaguard (for safe drinking water), Aeroguard (for clean air) and Euroclean (for clean and hygienic surroundings and environment)."

Contributing to the welfare of society

The motto of Eureka Forbes is “Friends for Life '' and the same is not restricted to just their customers. Eureka Forbes has been undertaking Corporate Social Responsibility programs across the country for over 30 years.

Citizens Water Helpline

In 2008, we set up a helpline in Mumbai to stop leaking taps in homes and also conducted a ‘Stop Leaking Taps’ Campaign in Churchgate, Colaba and CST Railway Station.

Water Purifiers for Covid-19 patients at quarantine centres

a) In association with the Local NGOs we installed water purifiers at Covid-19 wards of G T Hospital, Mumbai and Mulund Hospital, Mumbai.

b) Distributed 800 Aquasure Storage Water Purifiers

Water Recycling System at Victoria Memorial School for the Blind

A Reed Bed Natural Water Recycling System, which uses no electricity, was set up for inmates of the hostel of the Victoria Memorial School for the Blind.

Welfare in times of crisis

2004 Tsunami

During the December 2004 Tsunami, Eureka Forbes connected with World Vision to set up 45 Community Water Treatment Plants and distribute 800 Aquasure Storage Water Purifiers to those affected by the disaster. It helped provide safe drinking water to more than 2,85,000 people in the relief camps and homes in the affected areas of Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi and Kanyakumari. Priority was given to the public areas like schools, railway stations, general hospitals and the Collector’s Office.

Bombay Floods of 2005

In response to the fateful day of July 26, 2005, Eureka Forbes set up 10 Aquaguard water kiosks at key petrol pumps in a span of just 24 hours.

Bihar Floods of June 2010

As the floods ravaged Bihar, the head of our Aquacheck Laboratory visited the state with 250 water-testing units to test the water and educate the community on using safe drinking water.

Leh flash-floods of 2010

Eureka Forbes donated 2 emergency RO water purification systems with Genset to the National Disaster Management Authority, (Ministry of Home Affairs
- J & K) for the Leh Hospital plant for the victims of the floods in August 2010.

Assam Floods of 2012

During the floods in Dhemaji in Upper Assam, Eureka Forbes installed Community Filters along with World Vision to enable safe drinking water for the people. These are non-electric UF-based systems that operate with a hand pump, suitable for the energy crisis in the region at the time.

Cyclone Fani, Odisha 2019

When Puri, Odisha faced a devastating cyclone in May 2019, Eureka Forbes installed a high-capacity water treatment plant at Puri Hospital to provide safe drinking water to the patients, their families and also to the local communities.
