Background

Indian Railways is faced with the mammoth task of maintaining over 42,000 coaches daily. Over 30 tonnes of garbage and millions of stains are generated. It is estimated that 80 to 90 thousand hours of focussed attention are required to meet minimum cleanliness levels everyday.

To tackle this problem in Oct’2002, Ministry of Railways (MM, MT & FC), Railway Board launched a “Clean Train Station Scheme” for improving train cleanliness through outsourcing, inviting the best agencies to tackle this problem. Eureka Forbes Limited (EFL) was awarded a pioneering 5 year contract to develop a pilot module under this scheme on the Delhi – Mumbai main line. EFL successfully developed comprehensive a turnkey project specification for deployment to other identified stations. Today these turnkey modules are deployed at over 12 locations in India.

On 12th January 2007 FP Railway Solutions was adjudged the winner of the prestigious Golden Peacock Innovation Award for the Clean Train Station Project.

Services

FP Railway Solutions developed innovative service modules to tackle this dynamic problem by integrating facility management and hygiene services. This process was realized by leveraging EFL’s vast world class in-house expertise, technology and execution in the field.

The modules include Clean Train Station (En-route Cleaning), Intensive Mechanized Coach Cleaning at Depots, Railway Platform Cleaning, Railway Depot Premises Cleaning, Railway Track Cleaning and On Board House Keeping Services (OBHS).

Through the optimal use and management of manpower and mechanized machines, FP Railway Solutions ensures on-time execution of services, reducing precious halt time.

FP Railway Solutions has cleaned over 35lakh coaches under the Clean Train Station Scheme and over 15lakh under its Mechanized Coach Cleaning scheme, a total of 90lakh man hours of experience.
